The Differing Styles of Glass Table Lamps

Take a look at this beautifully different type of glass table lamp. Whereas the majority of lamps featuring glass in the design use the glass as part of the lamp shade, this manufacturer has designed the lamp base with bevelled glass pieces running up the stem to rather resemble a spine. The effect is quite eye-catching and very pleasing in my opinion.

The design of the lamp base works very nicely with the choice of white lace lampshade that expands out to give the impression it is a flowing skirt that you might expect to find on a wedding dress or some other formal type of dress. This particular lamp is actually part of a pair that would be perfect as a bedside lamp. The lace would work very well with a similarly styled bedspread and matching curtains to create an exceptionally styled room.

When looking for lamps such as the one displayed on this page you might want to go for something that is a little bit different yet still distinctive and appealing. This is where the unusual glass lamp base works so incredibly well. Although it is not your normal brass or bronze lamp base, it doesn’t stand out to the point that it overwhelms the class of the shade.

Compare the lamp above with another that features a glass base. In this case the base is more of a gourd shape and the distinctive yellow/green color means that it is going to have to be matched with an appropriate surrounding color.

This is a plainer looking lamp but it will still look particularly effective if used as a bedside lamp. The white fabric shade gives it a simple elegance and the round finial at the top provides a clean modern style to the lamp. The unusual glass color gives the lamp a distinctive look that may stand out if it is seen on its own and out of context with the rest of the room. With complementing accessories it could be the type of small household item that completes the room.

Although the two types of lamps are rather different in appearance to one another they will both be very effective in enhancing the look of a well styled bedroom.

Lamps like both of the examples discussed above usually measure around 15 inches tall which is the perfect height for bedside table lamps. They are not too tall to provide specific lighting for one side of the room and they won’t completely dominate the landscape of the room. Similarly they won’t get lost in the room’s settings and should prove large enough to make their statement.
